How to take care of your Christmas tree

Every year we have a lovely selection of Christmas trees available for picking and at our farm shop, all of different kinds and sizes.

It’s important to take proper care of your tree, if you want it to make it through the Holidays. Here’s some tips and tricks, to ensure it stays beautiful for as long as possible:

  • If you are unable to put your tree up when you get home, store it in a cool sheltered area. Outside or in your garage will work!
  • Make a fresh cut about 1 inch from the bottom, before you bring it inside and put it in a stand. This will re-open the tree stem so it can drink water.
  • Place the tree away from any heat source. This will prevent the tree from drying too fast.
  • As soon as the tree is in its stand, water it immediately. Don’t forget it was a live tree, so it will drink a lot!
  • In the beginning, your tree can drink a gallon or more of water per day.
  • Check the reservoir several times over the first few days, then at least once a day after that.

We will have a selection of precut trees at our farm shop that can be purchased as of the end of November during our opening hours

We also offer pick your own Christmas trees. If you plan on going to pick your Christmas tree in the fields, reservations are required and can be made here: https://quinnfarm.qc.ca/en/plan-your-visit/
